Yesterday I set time aside to write, but I didn’t. Under the pretense of needing groceries (I bought rice, so it wasn’t a total fib), I went to the bookstore. By some delicious coincidence, two of my all time favorite writers have new releases and I nabbed them both: The Flight of Gemma Hardy by Margot Livesey and How It All Began by Penelope Lively. (I wonder if their proximity when filed alphabetically is some mystical source of their talent?) Is there anything more delightful than new books?
And so, back to work this morning (this photograph of a dress by the late Alexander McQueen hints at my current project…), while these two books call to me from the window seat, like sirens…
